Gaston Hospice Events: Fall 2010
Who Will Make Medical Decisions for You if You Cannot?
Gaston Hospice is now offering free advance directive clinics to discuss living wills, health care powers of attorney and the new MOST form, Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment. A medical social worker will explain these forms and help you complete them and then notarize them. These clinics can be offered off-site at an office or church.
Sessions will be offered the first Thursday of every month from 11:30 until 1:00 (September 2) and the third Thursday from 4:00 until 5:30 (September 16).

Healing Families and Communities after Suicide and Traumatic Loss
Dr. Frank Campbell, Ph.D., LCSW, CT
Suicide remains the most common and traumatic loss that communities experience. This type of loss creates a host of problems for children and families to contend with while grieving. Professionals, caregivers and community organizations must understand the unique aspects of traumatic loss to be able to help in its aftermath for healing to occur. Helpers must also be mindful of coping with their own stress from these roles.
Gaston Hospice is pleased to present this half-day workshop featuring Dr. Frank Campbell, Ph.D., LCSW, CT, in October. This program is appropriate for licensed professional counselors, licensed social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, clergy, school counselors and crisis responders, mental health case managers, other professionals or personnel who work with children and families after suicide or traumatic loss. This program has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors for 3 CEs.
Dr. Campbell is the Senior Consultant for Campbell and Associates Consulting, LLC. He is the as executive director of the Crisis Center Foundation and the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center. Dr. Campbell also consults on forensic suicidology cases and trains communities internationally to implement programs that reduce the impact of suicide.
